How Do We Reconcile? — Curatorial Collaboration at Copeland Gallery
Role: Co-Curator
Team: Tom Oluade, Ethel Tawe, Jedidah M.
Venue: Copeland Gallery, Peckham
Visitors: Estimated 700–1,000+ over the three-day run
I co-curated How Do We Reconcile?, an exhibition presented at Copeland Gallery and developed as the inaugural show by RROWM. Over a concentrated three-day run in one of Peckham’s busiest cultural hubs, the exhibition drew an estimated 700–1,000+ visitors.
Working collaboratively with the curatorial team, I helped shape the conceptual framework, artist selection and spatial design. The show explored reconciliation across historical and contemporary contexts, grounding the theme in global majority perspectives and communal philosophies such as umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu.
Our focus was to create an exhibition that invited both contemplation and dialogue. We brought together mixed-media works and film in a layout that encouraged viewers to move between personal narratives, collective memory and the broader question of how we reconcile with our histories, our communities and ourselves.
The result was a cohesive, thought-driven exhibition that launched RROWM’s curatorial presence and demonstrated the power of collaborative vision in shaping culturally resonant art spaces.
